“The Art and Science of Linen” is being shown on a lovely HD screen (as intended) as part of “[micro]biologies I: the bacterial sublime” curated by Regine Rapp and Christian de Lutz at Art Laboratory Berlin
It’s a video art installation made in collaboration with Alex May, Martin A. Smith and Dr John Paul and is proving popular.
It was originally created for an exhibition in Lisburn, Northern Ireland at R-Space at The Linen Rooms (the gallery is co-directed by Robert Martin) and shows the processes behind linen production, in particular the bacteria used in the retting (rotting) of flax.
It’s also now in the permanent collection of The Irish Linen Centre in Lisburn, NI (near Belfast). We were asked for some press photos of the piece yesterday so I thought I’d share them here too.
